James Blake – “Left & Right (Harmonimix Remix)” (D’Angelo Cover)

I absolutely love it when two of my favorite artists come together for remixes.  D’Angelo’s Voodoo was one of the best R&B records of the last twenty years.  Each track was a little piece of grooveable, soul and hearing it reworked by one of the best in the business today is just plain wonderful.  Here’s James Blake’s remix of D’Angelo’s “Left & Right” under his Harmonimix moniker.  Jump and enjoy.

James Blake – “A Case of You” (Video)

Here’s the latest video from James Blake for his cover of Joni Mitchell’s “A Case of You” off his Enough Thunder EP.  Besides this just being a plain, pretty song to listen to, the video has actress Rebecca Hall lending her talents to the screen.  I honestly don’t have a lot to say about this one other than it’s just a solid effort that definitely merits a watch.  Enjoy.

James Blake – “Not Long Now”

Here’s a cut from James Blake’s upcoming EP, Enough Thunder, due out October 10 called, “Not Long Now”.  Per Blake’s usual stuff, the production value on this track is way, way up there–it oozes experimentation.  This one reminds me of some recent Sufjan Stevens material mixed in with a healthy dose of dubstep.  I’m pretty excited to get my hands on the rest of this EP.  Jump and enjoy.

Bon Iver & James Blake – “Fall Creek Boys Choir”

I’m not sure I’ve ever been so pumped to hear a collaboration in my entire life.  Bon Iver and James Blake are two of my absolute favorite acts out there right now and, as I had hoped, the product of their union totally delivers.  “Fall Creek Boys Choir” sounds exactly as it’s touted to be–an almost perfectly 50/50 melding of Justin Vernon and James Blake’s musical minds.  JV’s falsetto vocals settle nicely alongside Blake’s slightly auto-tuned melodies and the piano-driven rhythm sections push the track along oh, so gently.  I definitely approve–jump and enjoy.

James Blake – “Order” & “Pan”

Here’s a couple of new tracks from dub-wunderkind James Blake, “Order” and “Pan”.  They’re definitely throwbacks to a simpler age of no-frill dubstep–this shit is not for the occasional dub fan.  The rhythm parts are choppy and the samples are at an absolute minimum, so blast that bass and fall into the beats.  The two tracks are going to be released on July 11 via UK label Hemlock as a single set.  Hit the jump to hear ‘em both.  Enjoy.

James Blake – “Lindisfarne” (Video)

First of all, the quality of a music video never detracts from the quality of the original track regardless of the disparity and this is sort of the case with the video for James Blake’s “Lindisfarne” (dir. Martin de Thurah) at least as far as I’m concerned.  It just seems to really push a whole bunch of artistic boundaries in some ways that, for me, don’t really equate to the sonic temperance that Blake’s music seems to maintain.  Jump and give it a watch.

James Blake – “Give a Man a Rod (Second Version)”

Here’s another track from everybody’s new-favorite dub-stepper James Blake called “Give a Man a Rod (Second Version)”.  I believe it’s from a compilation of older tracks from Blake’s previous record label (more to come on this in the future).  Take a listen–jump and enjoy.
