Islands – “Hallways” (Video)

I’m a little late on this one and I need to apologize for that because the video for Islands’ “Hallways” is fucking great.  The track’s a solid, upbeat number but the visuals are the real pièce de résistance.  There is simply nothing cooler than an all skeleton band.  Nothing.  End of story.  And the skeleton band in the video for “Hallways” dances, sings backup harmonies, and jams on their instruments.  All music videos should be like this.  Jump and enjoy.

Gorillaz – “DoYaThing” (feat. Andre 3000 & James Murphy) (Video)

Not too long ago, Damon Albarn got together with Andre 3000 and James Murphy to work on a project for sneaker stalwart Converse and here’s the finished product.  “DoYaThing” sounds exactly what you might think a Gorillaz/Outkast collaboration would sound like.  The video, on the other hand, is quintessentially Gorillaz style: a bunch of borderline gross, funky 3D animation.  It really is kind of wonderful.  Jump and enjoy.

School of Seven Bells – “Lafaye” (Video)

School of Seven Bells released Ghostory not too long ago and now, they’re back with the video for the lead single, “Lafaye”.  The track’s a pretty heavy-ish, trip-hoppy/dance number-ish thing and the video’s actually harder to explain.  There’s a glowing lead vocalist kind of floating along like Criss Angel paired up with an ‘Eyes Wide Open’ party scene.  Yeah, I know it sounds fucking weird.  Just jump and give it a watch.

Summer Camp – “Losing My Mind” (Video)

There certainly is something oh, so creepy about cheap photo studio prints.  Just look at the video still above.  And I’d say the video for Summer Camp’s “Losing My Mind” captures that strange sense of peculiar macabre.  Hit the jump and check it out.

Bon Iver – “Towers” (Video)

Bon Iver’s next single “Towers” drops March 6 and to tide you over, here’s the brand spanking new video for the track and it’s pretty fantastic.  The visuals follow a day in the life of a gray-bearded fisherman all the way from his waking up in bed to his daily jaunt into the sea and let me tell you, the ending makes the whole thing.  It’s surprising and beautiful.  Jump and enjoy.

The Black Keys – “Gold on the Ceiling” (Video)

The Black Keys dropped El Camino not too long ago and we’ve been basking in its shear awesomeness ever since.  Though, on an album chocked full of bluesy rock bliss, the foot-stomper “Gold on the Ceiling” may be the standout track.  The video’s a fairly low-risk assortment of live performance shots, recording studio footage, and down-time antics that lets the track do all the work.  Hit the jump and give it a watch.  Enjoy.

M.I.A. – “Bad Girls” (Video)

Last night she flicked off America’s on its largest stage and now, she’s got a new video for backup.  I’m not sure how M.I.A. continues her streak of being just so fucking cool but let me assure you, “Bad Girls” does nothing to tarnish her image.  I don’t think anyone can make dancing in the streets of Morocco look so awesome.  Jump and enjoy, children.

The Darkness – “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us” (Video)

Right on the heels of their pretty fucking sweet Super Bowl commercial, The Darkness are back with a new set of visuals.  The video for “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us” is a cartoon-filled, classic rock romp-fest that’s really a whole bunch of fun.  I can’t really say when their next LP is set to drop, but I think it’s fair to assume it won’t be too long from now.  It’s great to see these guys back on the scene, putting out some new tuneage.  Jump and enjoy.

The Shins – “September” (Video)

Not too long ago, The Shins graced us with the brand spankin’ new single for their track “Simple Song” and now, we have the B-side (with a video, no less).  “September” itself is a fairly listenable track but its accompanying video is another story.  Chocked to the brim with ‘wordy’ visuals, this video was inspired by the artwork of one Jacob Escobedo.  Jump away and give it a watch (and read).  Port of Sorrow is out March 20.  Enjoy.

M. Ward – “The First Time I Ran Away” (Video)

Generally, I run pretty hot and cold with M. Ward.  There’s no discounting the fact that he’s one of the best songwriters of the past 20 years, but his recent stint with Zooey Deschanel was, in my opinion, entirely too fucking long.  Though, “The First Time I Ran Away” is a great way to reestablish himself on the scene as the venerable solo act he really is.  The visuals for this one showcase some really innovative animation that for what ever reason sets off a melancholic Invader Zim vibe inside me.  Kudos, M. Ward.  Jump and enjoy.
