Well Summer’s here in full force so what better time for another installment of the Music RX’s Fresh Artist Series? This time the highlighted artist is Dread, a 20 year-old California native who’s trying to watch his career take flight one fan at a time. His last effort, The Creativity LP, got his foot in the door and his next project Crayons aims to break the whole damn door down and he’s going to bring the entire Flight League with him. Now here’s a little more about this up and comer straight from his own mouth. Enjoy.
It’s with great pleasure that I bring you the latest entry into the Music-Rx’s Fresh Artist Series and the first since our switch to new surroundings–Ghosty. Ghosty is a 22-year old MC hailing from the Pittsburgh music scene and he’s a member of musical supergroup, the 58′s. He’s opened shows for some of the biggest names in hip-hop including Raekwon the Chef, Rick Ross, Mac Miller, and Cappadonna. Ghosty’s released multiple projects including the mixtapes Smarten Up!! (2008), Extra Credit (2009), Very Expensive Championship (2010), and UPS Is Hiring (2010). Now, here’s a little more about the artist in his very own words.
Recently, we at the Music-RX (that is Alex and myself) were lucky enough to have the opportunity to spread the word on exactly what we’re doing here at the Music-RX. Thanks to our wonderful and lovely friend/DJ Gwyn LoCascio (aka Gwyneth McBallerstein) of C of C Radio we were able to grace the radio waves briefly and preach the gospel, if you will, of what we’re doing right now with the site, what our future plans for the Music-RX are, and really just to promote, promote, promote. If you’re interested in learning a little more about us and the Music-RX, listen to the interview below. Enjoy (and thanks again Gwyn).
The time has come for the long-awaited Music-RX interview with Phresh Muney and it was a great time. Phresh Muney is a four-piece hip-hop group hailing from Chambersburg, PA (or Chillinburg if you’re in the know) whose primed to take the music world by storm. The four members (Choo, Sav, Kidd Cadet, and Staxx, respectively) each possess dynamic personalities that compliment their unique styles well, but their strength is their group relationship. Though they are inherently each themselves, the strong point of their relationship is the bond they have with each other and their devotion to their collective roots. Their debut LP, F.U.N., is coming out April 26 for your consumption, but take a minute to check out the interview and learn a little more about Phresh Muney.
Shout out to StereoBreed Media for the awesome job on the edit.
Our Fresh Artist Series is back and this time, we at The Music-RX are proud to introduce up and comer Lo Thraxx. Another member of Bakers Club, Lo Thraxx brings some Southern flavor to a young force in the hip-hop community. His last mixtape entitled, Varsity, dropped not too long ago and he’s still working on some new music for your listening pleasure–The Music RX had a quick Q & A session with Lo Thraxx, so take a minute to learn something about one of the newest, brightest faces in the hip-hop music world.
We at the Music-RX always support new, up and coming talent. So, it is my pleasure to introduce to the world Chill Will. Hailing from Phoenix, AZ by way of Seattle, Washington, Will, a member of Bakers Club, is one of the most original new MCs out there today. His sound is fresh, his flow is smooth, and we’ve got the scoop on him for your listening pleasure. Will’s been working on his latest record entitled “Cold Chillin 2: Dope Dealin’” (due out March 4th) and we had a quick Q&A with the up and coming musical talent to delve into the inner-workings of his young musical mind to introduce him to the public.
Kevin Leonard of Drum Gang (@drumgangdotcom) and Flux9 (@flux9ine), put in a tremendous amount of work on this five beat EP and we’ve got it here for you to have all to yourself. Flux9 has the artwork looking nice and fresh and of course, we’ve got Kevin to thank for all the smooth transitions and silky soundscapes from beginning to end of 3 Hours To Midnight (EP). Read More →
