Childish Gambino – “Heartbeat” (Video)

Childish Gambino’s not known for releasing awesome music videos and sadly, this one’s nothing particularly special, but I’ve got a special place in my heart for Mr. Glover.  As far as I’m concerned he’s one of the funniest and most talented MCs out there right now, so here are the visuals for “Heartbeat”, a smart ‘almost’ club-banger.  Jump and enjoy.

Islands – “Hallways” (Video)

I’m a little late on this one and I need to apologize for that because the video for Islands’ “Hallways” is fucking great.  The track’s a solid, upbeat number but the visuals are the real pièce de résistance.  There is simply nothing cooler than an all skeleton band.  Nothing.  End of story.  And the skeleton band in the video for “Hallways” dances, sings backup harmonies, and jams on their instruments.  All music videos should be like this.  Jump and enjoy.

Gorillaz – “DoYaThing” (feat. Andre 3000 & James Murphy) (Video)

Not too long ago, Damon Albarn got together with Andre 3000 and James Murphy to work on a project for sneaker stalwart Converse and here’s the finished product.  “DoYaThing” sounds exactly what you might think a Gorillaz/Outkast collaboration would sound like.  The video, on the other hand, is quintessentially Gorillaz style: a bunch of borderline gross, funky 3D animation.  It really is kind of wonderful.  Jump and enjoy.

School of Seven Bells – “Lafaye” (Video)

School of Seven Bells released Ghostory not too long ago and now, they’re back with the video for the lead single, “Lafaye”.  The track’s a pretty heavy-ish, trip-hoppy/dance number-ish thing and the video’s actually harder to explain.  There’s a glowing lead vocalist kind of floating along like Criss Angel paired up with an ‘Eyes Wide Open’ party scene.  Yeah, I know it sounds fucking weird.  Just jump and give it a watch.

Norah Jones – “Happy Pills”

Is Danger Mouse capable of producing a below par track?  It seems like every project he touches turns to gold (or platinum), so I think it’s pretty fitting he’s teaming up with Norah Jones.  She’s also incapable of musical failure.  Just look at everything she’s ever released and the thousands upon thousands of people that keep buying it.  “Happy Pills” has a little bit of a different sound than you might be used to Norah Jones putting out but I guarantee it’ll be a radio staple.  Jump and enjoy.

Take Away Show – Retro Stefson

I haven’t posted one of La Blogotheque’s Take Away Shows in a while, but this one’s a solid effort to come back on.  Retro Stefson is an afro-pop band hailing all the way from Iceland.  Sound strange?  Well, they kind of are, but let me assure you, their sound is something special, their grooves are absolutely undeniable, and they will make you dance.  Here, they play their track “Qween” in an airplane hangar.  Jump and you won’t be disappointed.

Summer Camp – “Losing My Mind” (Video)

There certainly is something oh, so creepy about cheap photo studio prints.  Just look at the video still above.  And I’d say the video for Summer Camp’s “Losing My Mind” captures that strange sense of peculiar macabre.  Hit the jump and check it out.

Watch Radiohead Perform Two New Songs

Who doesn’t love new Radiohead material?  Last night, on the first stop of their tour in Miami, Thom Yorke and company debuted two new tracks: “Cut a Hole” and “Identikit”.  The tracks are in the same experimental vein a lot of their recent stuff has come from but the videos are worth a watch if only for Radiohead’s awesome stage show.  Jump away.

Bon Iver – “Towers” (Video)

Bon Iver’s next single “Towers” drops March 6 and to tide you over, here’s the brand spanking new video for the track and it’s pretty fantastic.  The visuals follow a day in the life of a gray-bearded fisherman all the way from his waking up in bed to his daily jaunt into the sea and let me tell you, the ending makes the whole thing.  It’s surprising and beautiful.  Jump and enjoy.
